Praised by the press as “an impressive Bachian” Anne-Marie McDermott’s celebrated recording of these four complete works for solo piano was honored as an Editor’s Choice by Gramophone Magazine and declared by Australia’s The Bulletin as “one of the must-have compact discs of the year” at the time of it’s original release.

“McDermott refreshes the spirit with heartfelt quiet movements and rippling allegros so breathtaking
fleet-fingered that she fits four complete works on one disc. ...I’ve not heard them played better.”
BBC Music Magazine December 2001

“...a beautifully realized performance of four beloved works of Johann Sebastian Bach… ...McDer-
mott plays with both technical virtuosity and evident joy. The music comes alive under her fingers.” St. Louis Post-Dispatch January 2002

“An astonishing talent,” pianist Anne-Marie McDermott is recognized as an insightful, passionate performer whose supple sound and expressive interpretative skills have allowed her to forge an international career. Ms. McDermott’s playing has earned numerous honors and awards, including the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and the Andrew Wolf Memorial Chamber Music Award, among others. Ms. McDermott regularly performs throughout the United States and abroad in recital, with orchestra, and at major festivals. Of Bach’s work, Ms. McDermott has written: “ The music of Johann Sebastian Bach has been a lifelong passion and pursuit of my musical life. The four works on this recording demonstrate everything that defines Bach to me. I feel a soul-touching vitality and spirit in this music: it is pure and tender, passionate and stark, ecstatic and remorseful. Bach’s music inspires.”

NSS MUSIC is pleased to add this celebrated recording to its growing library. “Bach” is the second recording that Ms. McDermott has appeared on for the record label founded in fall 2005 by renowned violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg.
