CONCERTOS IN D MAJOR
NADJA SALERNO-SONNERNBERG, MARIN ALSOP AND THE COLORADO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
"I probably should have recorded the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto a long time ago, but for one reason or another, it just didn't work out that way. And I was beginning to think that the opportunity might have passed me by altogether mostly because I thought that the Tchaik is a concerto you play and record when you are VERY young and full of energy. But so, so many people that I have talked with...friends and fans kept asking me when I would record it and why hadn't I done so yet.
And so I felt I should really explore the possibilities. The fact that I decided to form my own label had a lot to do with this recording. I would not only finally record this concerto, but I would own it as well.
Marin and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra were so helpful with this project. Right around the time that we agreed to do this, I was premiering Clarice Assad's Violin Concerto at the Cabrillo Music Festival and Marin was conducting. I already loved the piece and soon after Marin did as well and she suggested that we record both concerto's live....I agreed. Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg
